Update on Son Heung-min’s injury following Tottenham’s worry

Tottenham star Son Heung-min has been selected for the South Korea squad to play Saudi Arabia at St James’ Park in Newcastle on Tuesday night after fears he would miss the match due to injury.

Coincidentally, Son will captain his team for the match and was picked from the start by former Spurs striker Jurgen Klinsmann.

The injury, which was first noticed after images emerged of Son from Newcastle’s training ground, is said to have been sustained during a training exercise.Son is said to have fallen because the coaches were worried about his fitness, but he later returned to finish the session.

It is a great boost for both the club and the country as Son remains an integral part of both teams.

He is now captain of each team and has also started the year well under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

With a hat-trick last time out for Spurs against Burnley, he has formed a strong relationship with summer addition James Maddison.

Both men have played a key role in the unbeaten start to the league campaign which continues on Saturday with a match against Sheffield United.

With three goals so far, he has returned to his best level after the sale of his attacking partner Harry Kane.

The 31-year-old has, however, been unable to inspire his country to better results and has not been on the winning side since the final match of the 2022 World Cup group stage against Portugal .
