Postecoglou orders Tottenham to complete the purchase of the Barcelona man, which requires a wide field

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has urged the club to bring in Barcelona expert Jordi Cruyff as their new director of football, a report has revealed.

Tottenham could previously count on Fabio Paratici as sporting director.

However, his position was put in jeopardy after it emerged that his former club, Juventus, was under investigation for financial irregularities and false accounting.

Ultimately, Paratici received a worldwide ban from involvement in football by FIFA. And when he failed to reverse the situation, he was forced to resign from his position at Tottenham.

The North London side managed to sign a new Chief Football Officer, signing Australian Scott Munn in April.

However, they have yet to sign a new sporting director who can report to Munn and assist Postecoglou.

Spurs have been linked with several possible replacements for Paratici, including Tim Steidten, who eventually joined West Ham United, and former Barcelona boss Mateu Alemany, who has turned down a move to Aston Villa. And now Cruijff can be added to that list.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Postecoglou told Spurs top management that Cruyff would be a great asset to the club.

The Dutchman worked at Barça for two years, first as a sports agent then as a sporting director before leaving this summer.

Now that he is a free agent, it would not be too difficult for Spurs to sign him as they would not need to enter into negotiations with another club.

Sport claims that following Postecoglou’s request, Spurs contacted Cruyff to see if he was ready to take on the role.

However, their initial approach was shattered by Cruyff, who is of course the son of legendary former Barca and Dutch star Johan Cruyff.

Tottenham tries to meet Postecoglou’s request

Cruyff Jr. told the Spurs he wanted to take some time away from the game before deciding his next move.

But if Postecoglou was intent on teaming up with the 49-year-old, then Spurs could return with a new approach.

If Spurs are to convince Cruyff to join, they will need to show they have an ambitious plan to return to the top four of the Premier League and face another challenge in the Champions League.

It is clear that Spurs fans will also want to know which players their club could sign in the January transfer window.

According to recent reports, Spurs will get another chance to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo in the winter as the player has burned all his bridges at Craven Cottage.
