John McGinn ‘wants to move now’ with Moyes in quiet Everton transfer talks

Everton have been linked with a shock move for Aston Villa star John McGinn.David Moyes is looking to improve his options in the middle of the park ahead of the new campaign, which will be full of excitement for the Blues.

The Toffees have been touted as a potential destination for Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, and Sean Longstaff has also been linked.

The latest name to emerge as a target is Middlesbrough starlet Hayden Hackney, although McGinn would be a dream signing for Moyes if he could poach him for the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Moyes to convince McGinn to make Everton switch

Everton are interested in McGinn but had their enquiries rebuffed by the Villans as they want to keep the Scottish star.

However, Alan Brazil believes that Moyes will have spoken to his compatriot, and he may want to make the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s transfer tinder segment (7:53 am, 9 July), he said: “For Everton, I think Moyesy has had a quiet word, I think he would be a big asset to Everton.

“I almost said maybe they [Villa] are looking for a bit more of a classier player, John is a worker, gives his 100 per cent each time, he has been a great servant, but maybe he wants to move on at his age now.”

Everton should go all out for McGinn

McGinn would be a huge level raiser for Moyes, as he has starred for Unai Emery’s side in the Premier League and Champions League.

He made 49 appearances across all competitions last season, notching a total of 10 goal involvements as the Villans made it to the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier competition.

McGinn would be the solution to the creative problems on Merseyside that have been left after attacking midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure moved on at the end of his contract.

Moyes’ current options include 35-year-old Idrissa Gueye, who has signed a new one-year contract, with James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam, who constantly suffered from injuries last time out.

The Scotsman is a versatile player who has even been called upon to feature from the wings under Emery and thrived while doing so, and he would be a step up in class for the L4 outfit.

It would be a real coup for the Blues if they could secure his signature, and the Friedkin Group should go all out to try and do so, as it would massively benefit Moyes on the pitch.
