Abdoulaye Doucoure hits back at Everton fan after ‘Nonsense’ new claim

Abdoulaye Doucoure is leaving Everton at the end of the season, upon the expiry of his contract.

There is one Premier League game left to play, but David Moyes already has his focus on the summer transfer window, knowing there is plenty of work to be done.

With The Friedkin Group able to invest money into the squad this summer, there are expected to be several exits from Everton at the end of the campaign, with plenty announced already.

One of those is confirmed to be Doucoure, who is now 32-years-old.

Under the management of both Sean Dyche and Moyes, Doucoure has proven to be a reliable figure in the middle of the park and someone who is committed to the cause.

However, Moyes has made it clear that he is interested in bringing young blood into his squad going forward, refreshing the options he has.

As a result, Doucoure has found himself being let go at the end of the season.

While supporters have been appreciative of the work that Doucoure has done during his time at Goodison, Moyes has been praised by some for the decision.

In a now-deleted post, one supporter claimed on X that the French-born player was “ineffective” most of the time, despite his success on Merseyside.

However, Dourcoure immediately hit back, saying: “I think if I were so ineffective, I wouldn’t have played most of the games I’ve played for the club as the starter.

“So stop this nonsense and telling lies to people.”

Doucoure deserves warm send-off from Everton

Doucoure is a long-serving player for Everton and has stood by his team throughout some of the hardest moments in their history, consistently turning up for the squad.

However, as one of the older heads, it’s not surprising that the boss is keen to make changes to revitalise the side, and with his contract coming to an end, it makes sense to part ways at this point.

Having come off in the 65th minute in the final game at Goodison Park on Sunday (18 May), the midfielder had his chance to say goodbye to the home crowd, and he could well be given minutes against Newcastle on the final day of the campaign too.

Everyone will remember that goal against Bournemouth for many years to come, with that his parting gift to those in blue on Merseyside.

Doucoure has done plenty for Everton during his tenure, so you can understand why he’s eager to defend his name and go out on a high with the respect of the supporters.
