TRAGEDY STRIKES AS HIGH-RANKING ATHLETE DIES IN US SWIMMING EVENT

A devastating event occurred at the 2025 CrossFit Games in Texas, as Serbian athlete Lazar Dukic tragically lost his life during a swimming competition at Marine Creek Lake in Fort Worth. The 28-year-old, who was competing in the swimming portion of the event on Thursday morning, went underwater and failed to resurface.
CrossFit confirmed Dukic’s passing in a statement shared on X, expressing profound sorrow over the loss: “We are devastated by the passing of Lazar Dukic. Our hearts are with Lazar’s entire family, friends, and fellow athletes.” The organization has promised full cooperation with local authorities as they investigate the incident and has extended its support to Dukic’s family during this incredibly difficult time.
Lazar Dukic was a highly regarded figure in the CrossFit world, holding the third-highest ranking in Serbia and 88th globally. He had recently celebrated a major victory by securing first place at the European CrossFit semi-final, cementing his status as an elite athlete.
As a result of the tragedy, CrossFit officials suspended all events for the remainder of Thursday, allowing the community to mourn and reflect on the loss. However, the competition is expected to resume on Friday as planned.
The entire CrossFit community has been shaken by Dukic’s untimely death, and tributes from fellow athletes and fans have poured in, honoring his achievements and spirit both on and off the field.
