Firefighters investigating after 5 big rigs burn at Texas truck stop
Authorities are investigating the cause of a massive fire that engulfed five big rigs at a Texas truck stop late Friday night. The incident, which occurred at a popular truck stop along I-20 in the town of Terrell, has left fire crews working to determine what triggered the blaze.
The fire broke out around midnight, rapidly spreading through the parked semi-trucks before emergency services arrived on the scene. Despite the quick response from Terrell firefighters, all five trucks were severely damaged, with some completely destroyed. No injuries have been reported so far, though the destruction has left truckers stranded as investigations continue.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames and thick black smoke billowing into the night sky, leading many to evacuate the area for safety. “It was a frightening sight—huge flames just swallowing those rigs,” said one driver, who narrowly escaped the fire.
Firefighters spent several hours battling the blaze and working to prevent it from spreading to nearby trucks and facilities. Officials have launched an investigation to determine whether foul play, electrical malfunction, or another factor caused the fire. Arson investigators have also been called to assist, though no official cause has been confirmed.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The truck stop remains partially closed as crews assess the damage and conduct further examinations.
