Full Details: Tesla will include SiriusXM streaming in its next software update.

Tesla is getting ready to introduce a dedicated SiriusXM streaming app in a future software update, according to a now-deleted post from the satellite radio company.

Over the weekend, Not a Tesla App discovered that SiriusXM had briefly confirmed on its Canadian website that its streaming app would soon be available for Tesla vehicles. Although the post was quickly removed, it included details on how to access a free trial of the app, even for vehicles without satellite radio equipment.

Currently, while Model S and X vehicles come with satellite radio receivers and can access SiriusXM’s satellite channels, the new app will extend streaming access to owners of Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck as well.

Not a Tesla App also mentioned that the free trial would include the SiriusXM 360L package, which offers live sports, on-demand shows, and streaming channels. Similar to other music and streaming apps available in Tesla vehicles, SiriusXM’s streaming service will require a Premium Connectivity subscription.

The SiriusXM 360L package typically costs $21.99 per month with the All Access package or $16.99 with the Select package. However, the removed post suggested that Tesla vehicles might need the $28.80 per month Platinum package, which provides additional features such as streaming on other devices like computers and smartphones.

The SiriusXM app is expected to launch with a free one-month trial of the Platinum package’s offerings.

Tesla began offering free three-month trials of SiriusXM’s satellite service to Model S and X owners in 2020, providing access to over 150 channels. This rollout indicated ongoing efforts to enhance Tesla’s in-car entertainment options across its vehicle lineup.
