Sharon Osbourne Reflects on Egging Incident with Iron Maiden at Ozzfest 2005
Sharon Osbourne recently reminisced about the notorious Ozzfest incident where she pelted Iron Maiden with eggs and cut their power. The incident occurred during the 2005 festival, where Iron Maiden was co-headlining with Black Sabbath. Osbourne took offense to comments made by Maiden’s vocalist, Bruce Dickinson, about reality television, as her family had just concluded their MTV series, *The Osbournes*.
In retaliation, Sharon egged Iron Maiden during their final performance in Los Angeles. Dickinson, addressing the crowd, expressed his frustration over the egging and power outages, attributing the actions to a few troublemakers.
In a recent Billboard interview, Sharon accused Dickinson of being “eaten up with jealousy” towards her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, the headliner. She clarified that her issue was only with Dickinson, praising the rest of the band as “great people.”
Sharon also revealed that her chemotherapy nurses, who had supported her during her colon cancer treatments, assisted in the egging. She supplied them with bean soup, vegetables, and eggs, instructing them to target Dickinson.
Despite the past animosity, Dickinson, in a 2017 interview, maintained his respect for Black Sabbath and Ozzy, calling them “icons.” However, he stood by his criticism of reality TV and did not extend any apologies to Sharon.
